How do I update an expired payment method?

Is the card linked as your primary payment method expired or expiring soon? Here’s how you can update it.

Updated over 3 months ago

Step 1️⃣: Add your new card as a payment method

First, you'll need to log in to your Paytient account and attach the newest version of your card.

Step 2️⃣: Set your new card as the primary payment method

First, log in to your Paytient account and navigate to the Settings tab.

From the Settings page, you’ll see Payment Methods followed by a list of your attached bank accounts/cards.

Select your preferred payment method, and then tap Set as primary payment method, as shown below:

Step 3️⃣: Apply this payment method to your existing transactions

Once you've set your chosen payment method as primary, you'll need to apply this payment method to all of your active transactions so your future payments will be deducted from the correct payment method.

To do this, simply select Apply to all transactions, located just below the Set as primary payment method option you selected in the previous step.

Step 4️⃣: Remove the expired card

Once you’ve updated your primary payment method, and it has been applied to all of your active transactions, you can remove your expired card.

Simply navigate back to your list of payment methods and select the card that you would like to remove. You’ll see a red trash can icon to the right. Tap or click on this icon to remove it!

Once the old card has been removed, you’re all set! Your payments will be taken from the new payment method going forward.
